McCade Johnson won a state championship in the hurdles for the second time this year last Saturday.

The Laramie High School junior captured the title in the 300-meter hurdles at the Wyoming State Track Championships in Casper. Johnson won by .35 seconds with a final time of 39.06.

It was a small measure of redemption after McCade had finished second in the 110-meter hurdles by .20 seconds earlier that same day.

His victory in the 300's goes with the state title he won in the 55-meter hurdles at the 2016 Wyoming State Indoor Track Championships back in March.

KOWB's David Settle caught up with Johnson, who takes us through the race, admits to some motivation after the loss in the 110's, summarized a tiring weekend of seven races and glimpsed ahead to his off-season and next year.

Johnson will return to the football field for the Plainsmen this fall and will compete in both indoor and outdoor track in 2017.
