Wyoming Man Facing Murder Charge, Could Get Death Penalty
A 32-year-old Rock Springs man has been charged with first-degree murder and concealing a dead body in connection with the death of 30-year-old Colter Watsabaugh last month in Reliance.
That's according to a release from the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Office. According to the release, William Thomas Brewer [above photo] was arrested early on the morning of July 17 on an outstanding bench warrant.
The arrest came less than 24 hours after the discovery of Watsabaugh's body on a dirt side road in Reliance, a small community located just north of Rock Springs.
The release says Brewer has been held in the Sweetwater County jail on unrelated charges since that time but has now been formally charged in connection with Watsabaugh's death.
Authorities at this point aren't releasing any more details on Watsabaugh's death due to the fact that the investigation is ongoing. The death has been ruled a homicide. In addition to the murder and concealment charges, Brewer also faces a sentencing enhancement for being a habitual criminal.
If convicted he could receive life in prison, life without parole, or the death penalty.
