Wyoming Man Dead After Sideswiping Oversize Load, Rolling Pickup
A Wyoming man is dead after sideswiping an oversize load and rolling his pickup, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.
The crash happened around 1:23 p.m. on April 28 at mile marker 79.9 on Interstate 25 in Wheatland.
According to a fatality crash summary, a northbound semi hauling an oversize load was in the right lane when 74-year-old Thomas Anderson, who was northbound in the left lane, crossed the centerline and collided with the left-side projection of the oversize load.
Anderson then steered hard to the left, which caused his pickup to enter the median and roll, coming to rest in the southbound left lane.
Anderson was wearing his seat belt but died from his injuries. The trucker was not injured in the crash.
An equipment failure or issue is being investigated as a possible contributing factor.
Of the 45 people who have died on Wyoming's highways so far this year, five, or 11.11%, have died in crashes on I-25, all of which have occurred in Platte County.
