F.E. Warren Posts Video Of Thunderbirds Landing in Cheyenne
F.E. Warren Air Force Base has posted a video of the Air Force Thunderbird demonstration team landing at the Wyoming Air National Guard base this week ahead of their performance for Cheyenne Frontier Days.
The video was posted on the base's Facebook page.
The Thunderbirds are a long-time Cheyenne Frontier Days tradition dating back to 1953. While there have been a few years in which they didn't take flight due to weather concerns or for other reasons, for many they are the pinnacle event of CFD.
They have traditionally performed on Cheyenne Day, which is Wednesday of CFD week. But this year they will be taking flight on Saturday of Frontier Week, which is July 26.
Cheyenne Frontier Days issued a release in April explaining the change in dates
In regard to moving this year's show to a Saturday, the CFD news release says ''By moving the show to Saturday, the Thunderbirds are hoping a larger crowd will be able to attend, as well as increase opportunities for the Thunderbirds to interact with CFD customers both on the park and at our downtown events.''
The release goes on to say “The Thunderbirds are a cherished part of the Cheyenne Frontier Days tradition,” said Colonel Jonathan Esses. “We’re thrilled to bring this incredible experience to fans on a Saturday - making it even more accessible to more visitors attending CFD events.”
