Online Poll: 2026 Wyoming U.S. House Race

Wyoming's 2026 Primary Election is now two weeks away, and the race for the state's lone U.S.House seat is a crowded one.

Incumbent Harriet Hageman, who was first elected in 2022, is now moving on to run for the U.S. Senate seat currently held by the retiring Cynthia Lummis.

That leaves nine Republicans and two Democrats to vie for the open seat.

Daniel Workman is running as an independent.

Candidates Include Some Familiar Names

The list includes some familiar names, including current Wyoming Secretary of State Chuck Gray and former State Superintendent Jillian Balow.

Balow was elected to lead Wyoming schools in 2014 and was unopposed for re-election in 2018. But she left that post in early 2022 to t.

To take an appointment as Virginia's Superintendent of Public Instruction.

Another familiar to those who follow Wyoming politics is Sen. Bo Biteman of Sheridan County, who currently serves as President of the Wyoming Senate.

While Reid Rasner is not an officeholder, he is a name many recognize from his 2024 GOP Primary challenge of longtime incumbent Senator John Barrasso, in which he garnered a little over 24 percent of the votes.

Steve Friess may also ring a bell with some voters, but in his case it's because of his father, Foster Friess. The senior Friess, who passed away in 2021, finished second to Mark Gordon in a hotly contested GOP Gubernatorial Primary in 2018. Foster Friess died in 2021. Gordon, of course, went on to serve two terms as governor.

Two other candidates are also former legislators, albeit less recently. Keith Goodenough served in the Wyoming House from 1989 to 1993 and the Wyoming Senate from 1995 to 2005. He also ran for the U.S. Senate in 2008 and for Governor in 1998, losing both statewide races in the Democratic Primary. But he's switched parties this time around and is running as a Republican.

One note on our poll. Frank Chapman of Moran recently announced he is withdrawing from the race, so we did not include him as a candidate.

Lisa Kinney also served in the Wyoming Senate for a decade, from 1985 to 1995. She's one of two Democrats running for the U.S. House in 2026, along with Elena Del Real

It's worth noting that in the August 18th Primary, voters can cast ballots in the Republican or Democratic Primaries only.

One candidate from each party will advance to the November 3 General Election.

Since Wyoming has not elected a Democrat to Congress since 1976, and the GOP also holds a massive advantage in party affiliation, whoever wins the GOP nomination will likely be heavily favored in November.
