Warm Week, Continuing Fire Danger In Southeast Wyoming Forecast
Southeast Wyoming residents can expect warm, dry weather this week, according to the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service.
The downside of that forecast is continuing critical to near-critical fire danger and worsening drought conditions.
The agency posted the following on its website:
Sunny and Warm conditions can be expected through the week. Even warmer temperatures are forecast late this week with afternoon highs approaching record territory. Very low afternoon humidities will favor rapid fire spread even with wind speeds under 20 mph. Therefore, avoid outdoor burning or anything that may cause a spark for the next several days!!
Here is the longer term outlook:
Tired of the warm and dry weather yet across southeast Wyoming and Nebraska Panhandle? Unfortunately, today's Climate Prediction Center's 8 to 14 Day Temperature/Precipitation Outlook for 14 to 20 October continues to show warmer and drier conditions continuing across the area. What this means for us here is critical to near critical fire weather conditions will continue. Snow packs in the mountains will be impacted as well and drought conditions will likely worsen. Hopefully, we get a weather pattern change soon that will bring some relief to the area. Stay tuned.
