The Old Famer's Almanac is predicting a hot, dry summer for most of Wyoming and indeed for most of the country in 2025.

That includes southeast Wyoming.

The publication recently released its summer weather predictions.

The publication notes that the summer of 2024 was one of the hottest ever in the United States, with an average temperature of almost 74 degrees, about 2.5 degrees above normal. That may not sound all that hot, but keep in mind that is the average for the entire summer, not just a few days or a couple of weeks.

The publication goes on to say "The summer of 2025 is shaping up to be just as intense. As the map suggests, expect hotter-than-normal temperatures across most of the U.S., except for the Northwest and southern Florida."

Here is the map the publication used in it's article:

How Does The Old Farmer's Almanac Predict The Weather?

The publication says it uses several factors to predict the weather:

We predict weather trends and events by comparing solar patterns and historical weather conditions with current solar activity. We employ three disciplines to make our long-range predictions:

  • solar science, the study of sunspots and other solar activity;
  • climatology, the study of prevailing weather patterns; and
  • meteorology, the study of the atmosphere.

If the Old Farmer's Almanac prediction for the summer of 2025 weather turns out to be accurate, it would not bode well for the summer fire season in the Cowboy State. That is always a concern in a state where resources to fight fires can be stretched thin in the summer and early fall months. That would follow a 2024 fire season in Wyoming that was one of the worst on record,
