"The mother, who came to us pregnant, and baby are doing good," the Sheriff's Office in a Facebook post early Tuesday morning said.

Due to it being protected health information, Deputy Chief Perry Rockvam couldn't release any information regarding the newborn.

He says the mother remains in custody and under the supervision of medical staff.

"We try and take every step possible to ensure that a baby will not be birthed inside the detention center," said Rockvam. "However, as we can see, there are times and circumstances outside our control."
