Man Charged After Allegedly Waving Stolen Gun at Man in Cheyenne
A 30-year-old man is facing multiple felony charges after allegedly waving a stolen handgun at another man at a Cheyenne bar.
According to a booking sheet, police were called to the Green Door Lounge at 301 E. Lincolnway around 3:20 p.m. last Thursday, Aug. 24, after a man dressed in red, later identified as Brian Abel Valdez, reportedly waved a handgun at another man.
When police contacted Valdez, he reportedly had a handbag around his chest area with a black Taurus G3C sticking out of it.
Police say the gun had a fully loaded magazine with a bullet in the chamber.
Police took the gun and handcuffed Valdez, and when they ran his name, they found that he had an extraditable warrant out of Austin, Texas for parole violation on an original charge of burglary.
Officers then ran the gun through the National Crime Information Center, which returned stolen out of Laramie County, and determined that it was the same gun that had been reported stolen from a vehicle on July 29, 2023.
Valdez was subsequently charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, theft, and burglary, all felonies.
He's currently being held in the Laramie County Detention Center on a $10,000 cash bond awaiting a Sept. 1 preliminary hearing.
