
Investigation Of Hospital Death Of Man Arrested By Laramie Police Underway
The death of a 65-year-old man who was arrested by Laramie Police and who died later in a Colorado hospital is under investigation by the Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigation
That's according to a release from the Albany County Sheriff's Office.
According to the release, Dewey Davis was arrested on Sunday, Sept. 28 for Driving Under The Influence (Subsequent Offense), Reckless Driving and Eluding Law Enforcement. On Tuesday, Sept. 30 at 6 a.m., he was found unresponsive and appeared to have suffered what the release calls a "medical event."
Davis Was Found Unresponsive By Deputies In Jail
Deputies started trying to save his life with first aid procedures and contacted Laramie Fire/EMS. Davis was rushed to Ivinson Memorial Hospital. He was then released from custody to get more advanced medical care at Medical Center of the Rockies in Colorado.
The release goes on to say:"On October 2, 2025, the Albany County Sheriff’s Office received notification that Mr. Davis passed away on October 1 at approximately 5:27pm. While Mr. Davis did not pass away in our facility, we still recognize the seriousness of this situation and believe it is important to treat it with transparency and care. In accordance with policy, the Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) was notified, and an investigation is underway. Updates will be provided once that investigation is complete."
The Sheriff's Office also expressed their deepest condolences to the family and friends of Mr. Davis.
