A wrong-way driver is dead following a crash on Interstate 80 near Rawlins, the Wyoming Highway Patrol says.

The crash reportedly happened around 11:34 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25, at milepost 232, three miles west of Walcott Junction or 17 miles east of the Rawlins East Interchange.

According to a fatality crash summary, 46-year-old Washington resident Mihai Priala was driving a Ford F-150 westbound in the eastbound passing lane, when he collided with an oncoming semi that was passing another semi.

Unavoidable Collision

The Patrol says the trucker couldn't avoid the collision.

The collision left Priala, who was buckled up, dead. The trucker was not injured.

The summary does not list any possible contributing factors.

Priala is the second reported person to die on I-80 in Wyoming this year.
