Trucker Killed in I-80 Pileup West of Cheyenne Identified
The Wyoming Highway Patrol has identified the trucker killed in Saturday morning's snowy pileup on Interstate 80 west of Cheyenne.
The crash happened around 3:05 a.m. at milepost 341, one mile west of the Harriman Road exit.
According to a fatality crash summary, a trucker was attempting to slow down to avoid several vehicles that had recently crashed and were disabled in the middle of the interstate when their 2024 Freightliner jackknifed to the left and got stuck, blocking both eastbound lanes.

Another trucker, 53-year-old HE Chen, who the Patrol says was headed east in a 2022 Volvo at a speed too fast for conditions, couldn't slow down in time and, as a result, struck the trailer that the Freightliner was pulling.
Chen was reportedly wearing a seat belt but, sadly, didn't survive the crash.
Trooper Shawncey Day says Chen's passenger, a Scarborough, Ontario, Canada resident, was taken to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center and released.
Day says the driver of the Freightliner was not transported.
The Patrol says the crash, which forced the closure of I-80, is still under investigation.
