Cheyenne Man Gets 14-20 Years in Child Sex Abuse Case
A 23-year-old Cheyenne man who pleaded guilty in December to two counts of third-degree sexual abuse of a minor will spend the next 14 to 20 years in prison.
Laramie County District Court Judge Steven Sharpe on Monday, April 22, sentenced Andrew Jacob Coles to two consecutive seven- to 10-year sentences.
Coles could have faced 30 years.
According to court documents, Coles engaged in sexual contact with the victim on multiple occasions between October 2022 and January 2023.
The victim was between 13 and 15 years old, and at least four years younger than Coles at the time.
Coles was originally charged with five counts of third-degree sexual abuse of a minor but took a plea deal.
Had he been convicted on all five counts, he would have faced up to 75 years in prison.
