
College National Finals Rodeo Rolls Along in Casper
The Ford Center in Casper was a busy place on Tuesday, starting with the 2nd slack round of the College National Finals Rodeo in the morning, plus the first evening performance. The Casper College men, who qualified as a team for the CNFR from the Central Rocky Mountain Region, have been strong so far, especially in the saddle bronc. James Perrin had a 77 on Tuesday night, which was 2nd in the 3rd go, and that put him first in the average with 240 on 3. His teammate Easten West had a 61.5, so he was 5th in the round and 3rd in the aggregate.
In the bareback event, Colton Farrow of the University of Wyoming posted a 73.5 on Tuesday, so he is 220 on 3, good enough for 4th in the average. UW's Jacob Wang had an eventful Tuesday with a 4.2 in the steer wrestling from the slack round and 5.1 in the night perf so he is 17.1 on 3 and that places him first in the average.
Cory Bomhoff from LCCC in Cheyenne has a 10 flat in the tie-down roping, so he is 6th in the average so far.
In team roping, Jace Mayfield from Midwest, who competes for Central Wyoming in Riverton, along with Caden Gines turned in a 6.1 so which put them 4th in the aggregate. In the men's team standings, Central Wyoming is running 3rd, Casper College 4th, Gillette College 8th, the University of Wyoming 19th, and LCCC 40th.
On the ladies' side from Tuesday, Kassidy Dunagan from LCCC had a 7.1 in the goat tying, which put her 7th in the average. In the women's team standings, Gillette College is in first place, with UW 6th. The rodeo has nightly performances for the rest of the week with the Championship short-go on Saturday at the Ford Center in Casper.
