Cheyenne Man Arrested After Allegedly Strangling Girlfriend
A 22-year-old Cheyenne man is behind bars after allegedly strangling his girlfriend.
According to a booking sheet, police were called to a domestic disturbance around 9:30 a.m. yesterday, May 9, after Diego Iziah Corriveau reportedly got into a physical altercation with his girlfriend of approximately two years, with whom he shares a child.
During the fight, Corriveau allegedly grabbed his girlfriend by the neck and applied pressure.
Police say the woman told them that she could feel the pressure being applied to her neck, and that she had physical injuries to her body that were consistent with her account of what had happened.
Corriveau was subsequently arrested and charged with strangulation of a household member, a felony that carries a maximum possible sentence of 10 years, and domestic battery, a misdemeanor.
He was also arrested on a warrant out of Laramie County for careless driving and interference with a peace officer, which was signed by Circuit Court Judge Thomas Lee on March 1, 2023.
Corriveau is scheduled to make his initial appearance before Judge Lee tomorrow, May 11, at 2 p.m.
