Cheyenne had it's fifth warmest May on record last month, while Laramie recorded it's second warmest May ever.

That's according to the Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service.

A post on the agency's Facebook page includes the following comments about Cheyenne's May weather:

Despite not recording any daily record highs last month, Cheyenne notched the 5th warmest May on record. This was mainly due to the lack of cold temperatures which made for a good start to the growing season. Cheyenne did not see a freeze in May, and the minimum of 34F was tied for the warmest on record! While not as wet as areas further north and east, we recorded 2.76” of rain in May, which was the wettest month in over 2 years! The rain was frequent, falling on 19 of 31 days, but the most in a single day was just 0.56” on May 11th. No snow fell in May, which means that (barring anything extremely unlikely) the 2022-23 snow season will end nearly exactly at average, with 62.8” of snow.

But the agency says that trend did not prevail in Laramie:

Laramie recorded the 2nd warmest and 9th driest May on record and Rawlins recorded the 6th warmest and 4th driest May on record. Further east, Chadron recorded its 6th warmest and 8th wettest May on record! Sidney and Alliance also both recorded above normal temperatures and well above normal precipitation, but didn’t end in the top 10.
