The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has upgraded High Wind Watches for SE Wyoming to High Wind Warnings for today into Friday.

As of Thursday morning, Cheyenne was slightly outside of the warning area, but Laramie and the Summit were included.

The agency posted the following on its website:

High Wind Watches have been upgraded to High Wind Warnings. High Wind Warnings are in effect beginning this evening and continuing through Friday morning. Wind speeds of 60 to 65 mph will be possible at times, with wind prone areas along Arlington and Bordeaux reaching upwards to 70 mph. Those driving lightweight and high profile vehicles will need to be extra cautious. Winter Weather Advisory are also in effect for the Sierra Madre and the Snowy mountain ranges until Thursday night. 5 to 9 inches of snowfall will be possible for the Sierra Madres and 4 to 8 inches of snowfall for the Snowy Range, with blowing snow possible and visibility reductions.

The agency says the weather should improve over the next couple of days, however:

An unsettled day across southeast Wyoming and Nebraska Panhandle Thursday as a cold front moves through the area. Very strong winds ahead of the front with High Wind Warnings in effect for many areas of southeast Wyoming. Expect increasing chances for snow above 8500 feet and rain below. Front clears the area Thursday afternoon to the southeast with clouds decreasing and precipitation ending Thursday evening. Warmer and drier Friday and Saturday across the area.
