An 18-year-old Cheyenne man is facing a felony charge after allegedly strangling his girlfriend of five months.

According to a booking sheet, Jakob Culver was arrested at 11 p.m. last Friday, Aug. 25, after a Laramie County Sheriff's deputy was called to a physical disturbance involving Culver and his girlfriend.

Culver's girlfriend reportedly told the deputy that she and Culver were arguing and that Culver had pushed her down multiple times and punched her numerous times in the face and buttocks.

The female also said that Culver grabbed her by the neck with one hand and squeezed until he realized she couldn't breathe and then let go.

The deputy says the right side of the female's face was swollen and there was a red mark on her neck below her right ear. She also reportedly complained of having a headache.

Culver was subsequently arrested and charged with strangulation and domestic battery.

He's currently out of jail after posting 10% of a $5,000 cash bond and is scheduled to be back in Laramie County Circuit Court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 6 at 2:30 p.m.
