Word from the U.S. National Park Service is that the entrances and roads into Yellowstone National Park will remain open and accessible during the government shutdown. This means that our lodges, restaurants, gift shops, restrooms, and services will be open and welcoming guests and visitors from around the world.
Government-provided services (visitor center, public restrooms, etc.) will not be available.
Please note that our public restrooms will be open and available.
The National Park Service will provide emergency services, but please be very careful when venturing into the park.
OLD FAITHFUL INN - West Wing Rooms
Guests staying at the Old Faithful Inn in the West Wing may experience some construction noise due to the National Park Service (NPS) efforts to rehabilitate a historic building.
So you can still visit our nation's national parks.
You might find a few services are closed for a while.
Most states work to fill the finical gap when a government shutdown goes for an extended period of time.
The repots below was from 6 years ago, during the last shutdown.
In the past, when a shutdown lasted long enough, some local residents stepped in to keep some park services running.
They understand the importance of tourism for their local economy, so they did all they could to fill the gap, as the video below shows.
During the 2025 government shutdown, Grand Teton National Park will remain accessible, but with significantly limited services.
This follows a newly released National Park Service (NPS) contingency plan. In contrast to previous shutdowns, such as the one in 2013 when parks were locked, this plan allows for open access to roads and trails.
Other federal parks in Wyoming will also remain open.
