This is a myth. We do and we have guns. Out-of-towners are often shocked to see people walking the streets or in stores with guns on their hips. It's common here. Many places in the state don't have police or are so far out in the middle of nothing that people need to defend themselves.

Miles don't matter because the time it takes to travel a country road is relative. So we refer to how much time it takes to get there.
