Robert Redford starred in the 2005 drama film An Unfinished Life, which is set in rural Wyoming.
In the movie, Redford plays a gruff rancher, Einar Gilkyson, whose life is changed by the arrival of his estranged daughter-in-law and granddaughter.
The film explores themes of grief, forgiveness, and reconciliation against the backdrop of Wyoming's landscape
Redford started on Broadway in the 1950s, then moved to television and the movies with many iconic roles.
Most of the Wyoming characters that Redford played were based on real people.
Actor Robert Redford was not primarily based in Wyoming, but he has a famous and long-standing connection to the state's neighbor, Utah, through the Sundance Mountain Resort.
While he did not own property in Wyoming, some of his work and business ventures have tangential links to the state:
The Owl Bar: An antique bar once frequented by outlaw Butch Cassidy in Thermopolis, Wyoming, was purchased by Redford and moved to his Sundance resort in Utah.
Filming locations: Some scenes for Redford's 1992 film A River Runs Through It were filmed in the Jackson Hole area of Wyoming, near the Granite Creek Ranch.
The Sundance Kid: The famous outlaw that Redford portrayed in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid got his nickname from the town of Sundance, Wyoming.
