It's a little hard to believe that the first Longmire episode aired 12 years ago.

Based on the Craig John novels, the show stars Robert Taylor as the Sheriff of Absoroka County, and first premiered on A&E Network.

But A&E cancelled the show after three seasons.

Actor Robert Taylor knew there was a massive fan base for the show and he was able to start a movement that got it picked up by Netflix, where it ran for another three seasons.

The series finally ended in 2017.

It just doesn't seem like it was that long ago.

Fans are once again calling for Longmire’s return.

If it were to come back, we have to wonder if it would star the original cast of Lou Diamond Phillips, Katee Sackhoff, Adam Bartley, and Cassidy Freeman.

Old episodes of Longmire remain popular on Netflix, ranking as the third most popular Western series.

Since 2017 many new Longmire books have been written. Those novels are selling better than ever and fans want to see new content make it to the screen.

Some folks think that new seasons of Longmire could fill the void left by the conclusion of the Yellowstone series.

The push is on by fans and some folks in the TV industry who think a new series on TV would do well.

Buffalo, Wyoming would love to see the series return. It's what keeps their popular Longmire Days celebration going.

Some of the cast members as well as the writers and producers of the show are behind the idea. It is now a matter of selling the idea to the network executives.
