Laramie Elks Free Throw Shooting Contest is on Saturday at the Rec Center
The annual Elks Hoop Shoot competition will take place on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, at the City of Laramie Community Recreation Center. Laramie Elks Lodge No. 582 presents “The National Free Throw Shooting Contest” for youth ages 8 through 13. There are three age categories 8-9; 10-11; and 12-13 for both boys and girls. Each contestant will have 25 shots at the hoop and advance through four tiers of competition to qualify for the national finals.

The local Laramie winners will move on to a district competition in Torrington on Jan. 21, 2024. The district winners advance to the state competition in Casper on Feb. 10, 2024. Those winners move on to a regional competition in Colorado Springs, CO, on March 16, 2024. The 2023 Hoop Shoot National Finals will be on April 20, 2024, in Chicago.
There is no cost to compete. All you do is sign up on the day of the competition. Registration begins Saturday at the Rec Center at 9:30 a.m. The Hoop Shoot starts at 10 a.m.
Contestants’ age groups are determined by their age as of April 1, 2024.

The names of the national winners will be inscribed on the Elks National “Hoop Shoot” plaque, on permanent display in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Massachusetts.
