Back at home for the third time on Friday night, the Laramie Plainsmen look for their second win of the 2025 high school football season against the Rock Springs Tigers. It’s a big game near the midpoint of the season, and before Laramie faces three ranked opponents in their final five games. The Plainsmen are trying to snap a six-game losing skid in the series. The kick-off is at 6 p.m. at Deti Stadium.

LARAMIE HOSTS ROCK SPRINGS IN 4A FOOTBALL MATCH-UP

Laramie suffered its second loss of the year last Friday in Cheyenne to No. 5 Central, 28-6. Despite the total offensive yards being very similar, LHS missed a field goal and had the game’s only turnover. The Plainsmen are 1-2 this season. They have an improving passing game led by junior QB Dax Parvin, who is No. 4 in passing in Class 4A at 128 yards per game. His top target is Isaac Kirsch, who has 10 catches for 140 yards and two TDs. Defensively, Laramie is No. 9 in 4A, but allowing only 312 yards per game. They are giving up nearly 28 points per game.

Head coach Jake Chick said his team had to make some adjustments during practice this week. He also provides some insight into the Tigers and explains what the team’s focus is during the fourth week of the season.

Scouting the Opposition

Rock Springs is 0-3 this season. They’ve lost to No. 5 Cheyenne Central, No. 3 Natrona County, and No. 4 Campbell County in their first three games. The Tigers are averaging 166 yards of total offense and six points per game this season. They allow only 229 yards per game, good for No. 3 in 4A in total defense, but give up 31 points per game. Rock Springs is negative seven in turnover margin for the season. They are led by junior Boston James. The running back has run for 156 yards and 3 TDs this year. He’s also No. 2 on their defense with 32 points. Their QB is junior Kason Cahill. Running back Kaleb Prayton is another key piece to their offensive attack. Cammeron Blake leads Rock Springs on defense with 34 points.

Series History

Rock Springs has won six straight in the series. The last Plainsmen victory was in 2018, 21-14, in Laramie. LHS leads the all-time series, 48-43. Tonight will be the 92nd meeting in the football series.
