Laramie Plainsmen Football Faces Rock Springs Friday Night

The Laramie Plainsmen host the Rock Springs Tigers for their home opener on Friday night at Deti Stadium. The game starts at 6 p.m. Both teams enter with a 0-1 record after losing their season debut last Friday in Week 0. KOWB Radio will have live coverage starting at 5 p.m.

KOWB PREVIEWS GAME NO. 2 VERSUS ROCK SPRINGS

Laramie comes off a 34-13 loss at No. 5 Natrona County last week. The Plainsmen trailed 17-7 at halftime, but the Mustangs pulled away thanks to their ground attack. NC finished with 302 rushing yards. Both Brodey Wilcox and Patton True ran for over 100 yards. True finished with a TD run and a TD pass. The Plainsmen had 264 yards of total offense. That included 164 on the ground.

Rock Springs lost at home to top-ranked Sheridan, 54-10. They were limited to 219 yards of total offense and allowed 331 yards on defense. The Tigers had one big play. That was a Boston James (#5) to Kaleb Praytor (#33) 68-yard touchdown on a shovel pass. Other key returners for RSHS include QB Kason Cahill (#10), running back Jernee Padilla (#9), and Hezekiah Purvis (#87).

Laramie head coach Jake Chick visited with KOWB’s David Settle to preview the game against Rock Springs. Coach Chick discussed how last week at Natrona was not the way they wanted to start, but a lot of it is correctable. He also mentioned some other adjustments they’ve made in practice and provided a little scouting report on the Tigers.

Series History

The series dates back to 1923, according to wyoming-football.com. Laramie beat Rock Springs last year, 23-7. That victory snapped a six-game skid against the Tigers. The Plainsmen lead the all-time series, 49-43.
