LARAMIE HIGH SCHOOL HIRES JAKE CHICK AS ITS NEW FOOTBALL COACH

Chick was announced as the new head coach on Monday afternoon in a press release to the media by Laramie High School Athletics Director Ron Wagner. His hiring is subject to ACSD1 School Board approval at their next board meeting on April 10, 2024. Wagner said in the release to the media,

"It is with great pleasure that I announce that the next head football coach at Laramie High School will be Jake Chick… Through the interview process, Coach Chick exhibited many of the attributes that the three separate committees were searching for in the next head coach. We are excited to support Coach Chick and see the heights to which he can take Plainsmen Football."

PLAINSMEN FOOTBALL HAS STRUGGLED OVER THE LAST TWO DECADES

The Plainsmen went 4-24 in the last three seasons with one playoff appearance. Laramie has missed the playoffs more times, three, than made the playoffs, two, over the last five years.

Since John Deti Jr. stepped down after the 2002 season, which ended 59 years of the Deti era, the Plainsmen have not had a season with a winning record. They were close in 2005 at 4-5. Laramie went 4-6 in both 2016 and 2018. The last winning record was in 2000 when LHS was 9-1 and lost in the 4A state championship game. Their 23 consecutive seasons with a losing record is a state record.
