Laramie Aims To End Drought At Central In Key Road Test [VIDEO]
Looking for back-to-back wins for the first time since 2018, the Laramie Plainsmen football team has its first road game of the season on Friday night (tonight). LHS travels to Cheyenne to play the No. 5 Central Indians. Both teams are 1-1 on the season. A victory in this game could go a long way in determining a possible playoff berth later this season for Laramie. Their last victory at Cheyenne Central was in 2017. The kick-off is at 6 p.m. at Riske Field.
LARAMIE PLAINSMEN FOOTBALL FACES CENTRAL IN CHEYENNE
The Plainsmen won their first game last Friday night with a 24-0 shutout of Kelly Walsh in Laramie. It was the first shutout since 2022, and the first shutout of an opponent not named Cheyenne South since 2018. Laramie QB Dax Parvin threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. Weston Ennist added a 31-yard field goal. The defense allowed only 189 yards of total offense to the Trojans. That was a significant improvement over the nearly 460 yards they gave up in the first game versus No. 2 Cheyenne East.
Laramie head coach Jake Chick discussed execution as the way to carry the momentum over from last week, how they build off of the defensive performance last week, the challenges the Indians present, and more, in a visit with KOWB’s David Settle.

Scouting The Opponent
Cheyenne Central won its first game over Rock Springs, 32-8. Last week, they lost at No. 4 Campbell County, 13-10. The Camels won it on a field goal with 24 seconds left. The Indians are led by senior lineman Jack Garrett, who has an offer to play at the University of Wyoming. They play two quarterbacks, Owen Woods and Justin Casteneda. Their skill players are highlighted by receiver Austin Teasley, running back Tyrone Richards, and power back Cody Witt. Central also has two good tight ends in Jack DiManna and Tai Reisdorfer.

Series History
Laramie’s 10-3 victory last year stopped a five-game skid in the series against the Indians. Central leads the all-time series, 71-63, with six ties. It is the third-oldest rivalry in the state and the second-longest for Laramie, dating back to 1909.
KOWB Radio will broadcast the game live starting at 5 p.m. David Settle and Aaron Lozano call the action. You can listen on the radio at AM 1290 in the Laramie area, anywhere with the KOWB app, online at kowb1290.com, or through smart speakers.
