Road trips are meant to be fun and exciting. However, you should always be prepared for anything, including hunger, thirst, and boredom.

One of the most critical decisions, outside of the destination of your trip, is what you eat and drink. For me, snacks are more important than what I pack in my suitcase. Are you eating healthy, sweet, salty, chocolaty, savory, crunchy, buttery, cheesy, meaty snacks? How about the drinks? Are you getting water, sports drinks, soda, tea, coffee, or juice?

It's tough, especially if you're an adult and need to watch what you eat and drink so that you're not miserable for the entire trip. Yet, you still slightly want to live on the wild side. The older I get, my wild side worry is what to do if I have too many cups of coffee or bottles of water. I have to stay hydrated, but side-of-the-road bathroom breaks are frowned upon, and I don't want to pull off the highway every 20 miles—one of the essentials, other than snacks, that I permanently have remedied those worries...plastic urinal.

Now, back to the critical part...snacks. At this point in my life, I'm choosing healthy snacks. Jerky, peppers, tomatoes, pork rinds, celery, oranges, and apples are pretty standard in my snack bag. Coffee and water are my drinks of choice. I always have my plastic urinal and personal protection (9mm).

It's fun to see what other people take with them on their road trips.
