When Gift Shopping For Kids Turns Into A Wyomingite’s Personal Wishlist
Picking the perfect Christmas gift for someone is something I put a lot of work into. I'm not a guy who goes into the store, walks the aisles, grabs some sort of gift, and calls it good.
I put thought into what the particular person I'm buying a gift for enjoys and is interested in, or I go the exact opposite direction and give them a gift card so they can take care of it themselves.
I also have a problem: I look for a gift for someone else, end up finding something I'd like to have, and then buy it for myself. I'm not proud of it, especially when I elect to go the route of the gift card for the person I set out to purchase a gift for, my bad.
I fell into this type of trap as I was looking for 'Cool Uncle' gifts to send to my nieces and nephews. I was doing research and stumbled across the latest 'Holiday Gift List' from Good Housekeeping.
Honestly, not where I thought my research would lead me, but I'm glad it did. The GH list is 45 of the most popular gifts of 2025, so you know there had to be a few gifts that would score 'Cool Uncle' points.
Three of the first five items caught my interest, maybe not as gifts for the kids, but as gifts I would like to buy for myself. In total, eight of the forty-five gift ideas really caught my eye. I'll also say that there are quite a few of them that I wasn't sure what the product was or what it was used for until I read through the descriptions.
I want to be very transparent. I didn't buy the gifts for any of the kids. They will all be getting gift cards, but I may have packages arriving soon.
