Traveling around the US, you will see something in almost every state. It's a pet peeve that should annoy everyone because it's dangerous and rude.

Shopping cart negligence.

Do you know those contraptions made of steel or aluminum piping in grocery stores, Walmart, or Target parking lots?

Those are called cart corrals.

They are designed to keep shopping carts—or, if you're from the South, you may call them "buggies"—from rolling around the parking lot and crashing into cars in one place so they can be collected.

Sometimes, when you're at the store, you're in a hurry and need to get to where you need to be, but it takes 15 seconds to walk your cart (buggy) to the corral. In most parking lots, they are conveniently placed every few spaces, but people still leave them in parking spots, on curbs, or on the grass.

It's irritating when you think you're about to get a 'Rock Star' parking space and then have to slam on the brakes because someone decided leaving a cart (buggy) in the space was a good idea.

As frustrating as it is and as damaging as it could be to your vehicle, shopping cart damage is usually covered by your insurance.

That still doesn't make it ok.

Please return your cart (buggy) to the corral and help others avoid that headache.

A public service address from your fellow shoppers.

Thanks, and carry on.
