Here’s A Great New Science Program For Wyoming Teachers
I was never good at learning from a book in school, but if you gave me a hands-on lesson, the information stuck with me. To this day, I'm still a hands-on learner.
If you're a teacher and want to give your students hands-on experience, the Wyoming Game and Fish Department and Trout Unlimited offer great opportunities.
Trout in the Classroom
It is an ideal program for middle school students in 5th through 8th grades. It teaches fish biology and physiology and helps them appreciate habitats and ecosystems. Teachers receive a basic lesson plan from Trout Unlimited but can incorporate the program into their curriculum however they see fit.
Teachers! Get your students hooked on learning by signing up for Trout in the Classroom. This hands-on science program, run by Game and Fish and Trout Unlimited, brings fish directly into the classroom and helps students develop an understanding and appreciation for the aquatic world.
Students raise trout from eggs to fingerlings in their classrooms over the course of a semester and have the opportunity to release them with Game and Fish personnel. The curriculum is designed to meet science education standards and provide students with a STEM experience. Any classroom in Wyoming can participate!
Since trout fishing is so important to Wyoming, this is an excellent opportunity to get your students involved and spark their interest in a possible career as a Wyoming Game and Fish biologist.
This program would've been right up my alley, and I hope teachers from any school will take full advantage. Click this link to get to the application and description of the program.
The deadline to apply is Monday, September 30.
