Casper is lucky to have the Casper Natrona County International Airport. It makes travel so much easier and, in the long run, cheaper than driving to Denver. Easy parking and pickup/drop-offs, quick TSA checks, a short walk to the gate, and it's easy to get on and off the plane. I can't speak highly enough about it.

It's exciting that there's now another daily flight in and out of Casper, and a recent post on the airport's social media says officials are in talks for possible new routes to airports other than Denver. Yep, that's what I said, there are talks happening to offer other destination options.

According to airport officials, the talks have been ongoing for some time, but they want to provide the public with an update on what's being discussed. There's lots of data that's being thrown around

So, what's it going to take to add new options?

  • Route planning
    • Where are people flying to when they leave Casper?
    • What airlines fly to those places?
    • What data will support the airport's case?
    • How deep does the data go?
    • Would it affect the current flights to and from Casper?
    • How many people would fly there, and how big of a plane is needed?
    • Where does the community want to go?
  • Airline Pitches
    • Conversations between airport officials and potential airlines that may want to fly out of Casper
    • Make detailed pitches to those airlines, backed by data showing why it would be a good idea, and address their concerns.
  • Continuing Conversations
    • Airport Updates
    • Community growth and interest
    • Current data
    • Keeping Casper top of mind for potential airlines
    • What needs to happen for the airline service to be successful
