In my early twenties one of my buddies kept having a sore throat and other throat related issues. After this happeded multiple times, he went to his doctor and was SHOCKED to find out that his cat was his issue.

What's that you say, his cat?

Yes. His cat.

Come to find out he enjoyed giving is cat kisses, and his cat was passing a bacteria to him and he kept having those throat issues. I've seen lots of pet owners giving their dog or cat kisses, or even worse they're letting their pet kiss them in the face, and it could only be a matter of time before you get sick.

While you may think your pets mouth is sterile and this isn't going to be an issue, science says differently. Pet mouths are not sterile and can harbor germs like Salmonella, Pasteurella, and Bartonella, which can lead to gastrointestinal problems, infections, and even severe illness in people, especially those with weakened immune systems.

I know there are pet lovers who are saying that this is rediculous, but to be safe, there are a few rules you should keep to ensure you dont get sick. Especially, if you are beginning to feel sick or can sense an illness coming on.

Here Are Helpful Rules To Avoid Illness Due To Pets.

  • Don't kiss your animals or let them lick your face.
  • Don't feed your pet at the table.
  • Never share dishes with your pet.
  • Wash your hands after having any contact with your pet.
  • Stay up on your pets vaccinations.
  • Use special pet soaps and shampoos when giving your pet a bath.
  • Keep your pets from being in contact with wild or stray animals.
  • Ensure you're dog isn't eating anything off the street when you're out for a walk.
  • Watch what you're feeding them. Stay away from raw eggs, meat or fish.
  • Keep your pets food bowls and your house clean.
  • Regular vet visits are key.
