AUSTIN, Texas — Kareem Mersal took 20th place in the Long Jump finals to earn Honorable Mention All-American status at the 2023 NCAA Track & Field National Championship on Wednesday night from Austin, Texas at Mike A. Myers Stadium.
On the first day of action from the NCAA Championships, Mersal represented the University of Wyoming Track & Field Team in the Long Jump field. Mersal went 24-5 on his first jump and that wound up being his best mark of the evening.
In his second consecutive season representing the Pokes at the NCAA Championships, Mersal ended his NCAA season among the best 24 long jumpers in the nation.
Up next for Wyoming at the NCAA Championships will be Katelyn Mitchem representing the Cowgirls in the 3000M Steeplechase in the semifinals of the race on Thursday night. Set to be run at 7:02 Mountain Time, Katelyn will look to advance to Saturday’s final in the event by being in the top five of her heat or having one of the next two best times as 12 student-athletes will race for the Championship on the final day of action.
