LARAMIE -- The Wyoming Cowgirls were impressive Saturday afternoon in Laramie as they moved their record to 2-0 at home and 3-5 overall this season with a 7-0 victory over MSU Denver.

The Cowgirls had to claw their way to the doubles point Saturday to take the early 1-0 match lead. The team of Noesjka Brink and Nikol Dobrilova at the No. 2 spot secured the win with a 7-5 comeback victory. Wyoming also won at the third position, 6-4 from Ana Fernandez and Lucia Malinak.

In singles play, UW took all six matches. Singles action featured five straight-set wins. Maria Oreshkina won at No. 1, 6-3 and 6-3. At No. 2, Brink was victorious 6-1 and 6-1, as she was the first singles winner on the day for the Cowgirls. Dobrilova won a super set third set tiebreaker at the No. 4 spot, as she rallied to win 3-6, 6-2 and 10-8.

At the fourth position, Violetta Borodina won via retirement, but was leading at the time in the second set, 3-0. Dobrilova won the first set 6-2. Ana Fernandez made quick work of her opponent at No. 5, winning 6-2 and 6-4. Rounding things out was a 6-2, 6-2 victory from Malinak at the sixth spot.

Wyoming is now until next Saturday, February 25 when it travels to face Kansas City in a neutral-site matchup in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Cowgirls will face Nebraska Feb. 26 as well.
