High Wind Warning Friday into Saturday For I-80 Summit

The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for areas between Laramie and Cheyenne, including the I-80 summit, in effect from 7:00 PM Friday through noon Saturday (October 4-5).

"High winds should develop by late Friday morning and continue through early Saturday. Travel impacts along Interstate 80 and 25 will be possible with strong gusty winds."

Warning, which is in effect from 7 PM Friday to noon MDT
Saturday. The High Wind Watch is no longer in effect.

* WHAT...West winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts over 60 mph expected.

* WHERE...South Laramie Range, South Laramie Range Foothills,
  Central Laramie Range and Southwest Platte County.

* WHEN...From Friday evening through Saturday morning.

* WINDS...Westerly 25 to 40 mph with gusts over 60 mph expected.

* IMPACTS...Travel could be difficult, especially for high
  profile vehicles.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this
situation. Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe
location prior to the onset of winds.

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts
of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
