The Cheyenne Office of the National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for this (Tues. Dec. 18) afternoon through Wednesday evening.

The service issued the following weather statement:

"Strong winds are expected to begin in our wind prone areas (Arlington/south Laramie Range on I-80 and Bordeaux on I-25) of southeast Wyoming this afternoon. More widespread strong winds are expected tonight that will impact Cheyenne, Laramie, Pine Bluffs, Kimball and Sidney. Wind gusts in excess of 60 mph likely across the warned area with gusts to 50 mph in the northern Panhandle and out by Rawlins. High Wind Warnings are in effect from 2 PM MST today through midnight Wednesday night for the wind prone areas of southeast Wyoming. High Wind Warnings are in effect from 2 AM MST Wednesday morning through 6 PM MST Wednesday evening outside the wind prone areas that are in warnings. These winds could blow over a light load semi or a towed camper trailer! Please be careful if driving in these areas! "
