Brice Hansen of Lyman and Marcus Manzanares of Cheyenne South were the champions of the annual Flaming Gorge Classic 3-Point Shooting Contest last Friday night.

Hansen topped the girls’ competitors with 16 points in the first round and then out-dueled Riverton’s Ahkaysha Menor in the finals. Hansen finished with 17 points, while Menor had 10. It wasn’t over at that point, as the sophomore out-gunned the boys’ winner for the title of overall champion.

That boy’s winner was Marcus Manzanares, a sophomore, from Cheyenne South High School. He had the second-best point total in the first round with 13. That trailed only Justis Reese of Rock Springs, who had 16 points. In the finals, Manzanares pulled away on the last basket and finished with 17 points for a three-point victory.

WyoPreps talked with both winners after they were presented their trophies.

Here’s a look at some of the action from the 3-Point Shooting Contest in 2019.

The Flaming Gorge Classic will return for its 26th year in December of 2020.
