GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — Mountain goats can be handy to have if you're headed into the wilderness.

That's what Shawn Dorr and his son, Zach, want more people to be able to see for themselves. They are starting a new guide service called Big Horn Mountain Pack Goats.

Their plan is to lead people into the Bighorn Mountains and let their goats do all of the heavy lifting. Zach Dorr tells the Gillette News Record goats can be helpful allies in a difficult situation. He says a group of pack goats once fended off a black bear during an elk hunting trip.

To prepare yourself for a potential incident, always keep your vet's phone number handy, along with an after-hours clinic you can call in an emergency. The ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center also has a hotline you can call at (888) 426-4435 for advice.
