Last week, a woman in Florida made national news when she was arrested for riding her horse on a busy highway and charged with DUI.

In case you're curious, riding a horse while intoxicated is "technically" legal in Wyoming. By law, a horse isn't considered a vehicle here, but you still might end up in jail.

And yes, it's happened here.

December 27, 2009, a man in Cody was arrested for riding a horse while intoxicated. Cody Police had recieved a call from a motorist who was worried that the white horse might present a safety hazard during a snowstorm.

After police stopped Benjamin Daniels to explain that his horse may be difficult for drivers to see, they noticed he was intoxicated. Daniels was taken to jail and charged with public drunkeness. Meanwhile, a friend was called to come pick up the horse.

In 2011, the Montana Department of Transprotation produced a drunk driving PSA featuring a man leaving a bar on a horse. After the video drew media attention, they pulled the ad and issued a statement discouraging the public from riding horses while intoxicated.
