From groundbreaking electronics, such as virtual reality sets and airpods, to innovative healthcare devices and items to encourage sustainability, there were tons of new inventions that came to the market in 2019.

TIME Magazine has published what they believe to be the 100 best inventions of the year – highlighting items that have helped to make the world better, smarter, and even more fun. To narrow down the contenders, TIME looked at key factors of each invention, including originality, creativity, influence, ambition and effectiveness.

One of the items to receive a special mention on TIME's 2019 top 100 list, is a product invented right here in Fort Collins — the Otter + Pop Symmetry Series Build Your Own Case.

Noted in the article as a 'fun and functional phone case,' the Otter + Pop is described by the magazine as a combination of "the tech industry’s most popular accessories–Otterbox’s nearly-indestructible phone case and PopSockets’ collapsible phone grip—in one versatile yet simple product with a personal touch."

The product is a collaboration between Otterbox and PopSockets, and has proven to be very popular since its creation earlier this year. Otterbox is now recognized as the number one-selling smartphone case brand in the United States. It currently retails for $57.95 and is available for purchase both online and in stores around the country.
