Family Physicians of Laramie Closes Its Doors This August
After 15 years of serving the community, Family Physicians of Laramie at 2710 Harney St. is closing up shop. The practitioners are headed in various directions, geographically or metaphorically. Clinic doors will close permanently on Aug. 25.
John Haeberle, M.D., is retiring. Nicole Alexander, PA-C, is moving to New Zealand, and Chelsea Raymer, DNP, will also be moving out of Laramie.
Doctors Habel and Mikesell will be moving to Ivinson Medical Group at 3116 E. Willett Dr., and starting Sept. 1, appointments can be scheduled with them through IMG.
Patients of Christina Cook, PMHNP, will be notified of where they will be able to continue their care in the coming weeks.
“As far as I know, the other assistants and nurses have jobs. Unfortunately, the receptionists are looking for new ones,” said Kelly Layland, a medical receptionist at the clinic.
According to Institutional Communications at the University, UW acquired the Mountain View Medical Park building and the five acres on which it sits for $8.4 million. The Dec. 2020 acquisition used federal CARES Act funds with the immediate purpose of assisting the University in its COVID testing and vaccination efforts.
The news release stated the acquisition “also consolidates the university’s land ownership on the northeast end of campus -- and provides space for UW’s WWAMI Medical Education Program and other future health sciences and related program needs.”
The university extended leases of the other medical and dentistry businesses in the building for another two years at the time of acquisition.
Smile Academy Pediatric Dentistry will hopefully be in the building for a bit longer. Tessa Eaves, a receptionist at the practice, said, “A year ago, UW gave us the opportunity to move. We chose to stay, and we just renewed our lease. We should have another four years.”
