Exec. Director of Laramie Civic Center Announces Resignation

Alec Shea, executive director of the Laramie Plains Civic Center, which includes the popular venue, The Gryphon Theater, has announced his resignation.

In an email sent to tenants of the civic center, Alec Shea announced that he would be stepping down from the position of Executive Director.  Shea says that his resignation will be effective as of May 1st, after which he plans pursue other opportunities.

According to the email, sent by Shea, he will remain an active member of the Laramie Plains Civic Center foundation board.  Melissa Daniele, who is the current Director of Operations for the LPCC will serve as the interim Executive Director until a replacement can be found by the joint powers board.

The LPCC is currently home to organizations such as the Laramie Head Start Program, Interfaith / Good Samaritan, the bi-lingual community radio station KOCA, United Way of Albany County and a branch of the Turtle Rock Cafe among many other tenants.

"This was not an easy decision for me to make," says Shea in his email to the LPCC tenants.  "I have valued my time spent at the LPCC and although I am excited to take on new challenges, I am going to miss coming here everyday and seeing all the changes we have made, and the looking at the changes we have yet to make."

The civic center has undergone extensive renovations over the past several years.  Previous to being the Laramie Plains Civic Center, the building served as Laramie's high school for a number of decades.
