Additional Information

This year’s National Wreaths Across America Day is December 15, 2018. The local Remembrance Ceremony will be held at 11 am, Greenhill cemetery, at the GAR monument. Following the ceremony, members of the Jacques Laramie Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and Laramie Valley Civil Air Patrol Composite Squadron (CAP), along with volunteers from Laramie VFW Post 2221 and the local community will join together to place more than 500 wreaths on Veteran graves at the cemetery. Wreaths Across America began in 1992, when Worcester Wreath was left with a surplus of wreaths at the end of the holiday season. Arrangements were made for the wreaths to be placed at Arlington National Cemetery. From this beginning, the project has grown and now more than 1,500,000 wreaths are placed at more than 1400 locations nationwide. The placement of wreaths on gravesites acknowledges the empty space at so many family tables representing a veteran who has been lost, and honors their service to this nation. Numerous individuals, local businesses and organizations donated funds to purchase the wreaths. You can learn more about Wreaths Across America and their motto of Remember, Honor, Teach at www.wreathsacrossamerica.org.
