Join the American Heritage Center (AHC) in welcoming travel grant awardees as they visit campus and present on their respective research topics.

The event is at 12 p.m. in the Stock Growers Room and is free and open to the public. This is a 'brown bag' style program and visitors are welcome to bring their own lunch.

Jennifer Helton, assistant professor at Oblone College, will present on the topic of "Putting Women Back into Women's Suffrage." In this talk, Prof. Helton will discuss her efforts to trace the impact of woman suffrage on the women of Wyoming, using the resources of the American Heritage Center and the Wyoming State Archives.

About Helton: Jennifer is a native of Wyoming, and is currently an assistant professor of History at Ohlone College in Fremont, California. Her essay “So Great An Innovation: Woman Suffrage in Wyoming” will appear in Equality at the Ballot Box, edited by Lori Lahlum and Molly Rozum and published by the South Dakota Society Press, in the Fall of 2019.

About AHC travel grants: The American Heritage Center at the University of Wyoming offers ten annual travel grants to be used by scholars. The grants provide support for travel, food and lodging to carry out research using the American Heritage Center's collections. Subject areas include: Wyoming, the American West, transportation, conservation, water resources and the performing arts.
