Relative Theatrics presents Tight End by Rachel Bykowski

Season 8: A New Way Forward continues with TIGHT END by Rachel Bykowski, streaming virtually​, on-demand from April 16 - May 2, 2021. Bykowski’s play powerfully illustrates the world of small town high school football and the sports complex’s influence on its fans. This hybrid theatre/film production is directed by Anne Mason; assistant directed by Justen Glover and Isa Jackowich; and features Sean Coyle, Claire Mason, Jared Mohr-Leiva, and Aubree Tafoya.

TIGHT END tells the story of Ash (believe me, you do not want to call her “Ashley”) Miller, whose dream is to catch the winning touchdown pass for the Westmont High Titans’ Homecoming game. As the daughter of the Titans’ legendary quarterback, football is in her blood. But in order to make the team, Ash will have to prove she is one of the guys - even if that means sacrificing her body for the love of the game. A play with as much drive as Ash’s hustle, TIGHT END invigorates audiences, while asking probing questions about prescribed societal norms, the forces that erase individual identity, and the “rules of the game” that trap us in repetitive cycles.
