Some fabric will be available for these projects, but participants are also encouraged to bring their own cotton, light colored t-shirt, or piece of fabric with a smooth, seam-free printing surface to print on. This event is free and open to the public. Kids welcome!

Wyoming Art Party is a local artist run organization that organizes inclusive creative projects that celebrate and engage our local communities. In partnering with the Wyoming Art Party, MLK DOD 2020 aims to uplift creativity and healing as key components in the global struggle towards racial justice. Through this annual week of programming, UW celebrates the continuing impact of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s life and ideals while also expanding institutional awareness about issues of diversity and social justice, fostering an inclusive community, empowering individuals to act in solidarity with marginalized communities, and renewing the university’s commitment to making campus a more welcoming and empowering place for people from different backgrounds, heritages, orientations, abilities, and perspectives. This year’s Days of Dialogue will focus on the theme Afrofuturism in a Rural Context. Imagine what it could it mean to have a rural space with Black individuals at the center instead of at the margins. A refuge from and response to the challenges of our current political moment, Afrofuturist thought is experiencing a renaissance in popular media and Black community spaces around the world. This Black History Month, the MLK Days of Dialogue will integrate the power of art, science, and radical self-love to create inclusive opportunities for community-care, celebration, and growth on our campus and in the Laramie community.

This event is free and open to the public. This and other MLK DOD events are sponsored by University of Wyoming.
