Additional Information

Laramie PrideFest has been working for the past several months to plan an entirely virtual/remote Pride Week.

We do acknowledge that these are unprecedented times with gained momentum towards racial justice and Black Lives Matter, as well as layered with the COVID-19 pandemic. In our rapidly evolving world, please note that our plans are all subject to change. We want to give space for potential changes to support local actions and organizing towards the march for justice and Laramie Human Rights Network. That said, we welcome all members of the LGBTQ+ community and their allies to attend as many of our Pride Week events as they desire and feel possible. Thank you for your support. ❤️

Keeping our community safe is of the highest importance to us. Please refer to https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/downloads/2019-ncov-factsheet.pdf while participating in our virtual and remote events. Masks and social distancing measures are strongly encouraged. Please show one another that you care by taking actions to keep others safe!

And remember, Pride started as a riot against police brutality and was led by transwomen of color alongside additional queer folk. It is to them that we owe our rights, and it is this history that we remember especially now.

MONDAY - Please tune into our social media to begin planning your virtual Pride Week! We will release our remote/virtual activity guide and Pride Week video schedule.

TUESDAY - Laramie PrideFest is honored to be partnering with Tales At The Taphouse for June’s event titled "Love & Queerness" in honor of LGBTQ+ Pride Month. Please tune in at 8 pm to hear a variety of stories from members of Laramie’s LGBTQ+ community. The recording will be available after it goes live, so if you are unable to tune in at 8 pm on this night, please check back later!

WEDNESDAY - join us for a streamed Pride Story Hour with the Albany County Public Library! This will be an all-ages storytelling event, featuring LGBTQIA+ and allied readers from the Laramie community. There will be stories, activities, laughs, and fun! All ages are welcome. A big thank you to the Albany County Public Library for making this event happen!

THURSDAY - Tune into our videos! The material on our channel will be a variety of mature and all-ages content. Please refer to the full Pride Week video schedule for more info (to be released on Monday 6.22.20)

FRIDAY - Tune into our videos! The material on our channel will be a variety of mature and all-ages content. Please refer to the full Pride Week video schedule for more info (to be released on Monday 6.22.20)

SATURDAY - Let’s Make a Scene (alternative parade)!!! Instead of our usual march, we want to encourage folks to use this time to disrupt “normal” life in any way they choose! Be loud! Be visible! Go take a hike with your dog and then send us pictures! Listen to our Spotify playlist! Participate however feels safe and appropriate to you. We have created a remote/virtual activity guide to help facilitate our two sessions, from 10 am - 11 am and then from 6 pm - 7 pm. Please refer to this https://www.aclu.org/know-your-rights/ prior to participating. We welcome celebration as well as displays of solidarity with Black Lives Matter, disability rights, anti-racism work, and additional movements that overlap and intersect with queer Pride. Let’s Make a Scene! is a time for us to collectively observe Pride and have visibility together, without actually being together.

POSTPONED - Every year, Laramie PrideFest holds a vigil to honor the memory and legacy of Matthew Shepard, as well as to bring awareness of the violence that happens to queer and additionally marginalized bodies today. The vigil has tentatively rescheduled to be on the date that Matthew Shepard died (October 12th). Please stay tuned for more details. If interested in speaking at the vigil, please email us at laramie.pridefest@gmail.com, or message us on social media.

DON’T FORGET to submit to our PrideFest Zine as well! Submissions are open until July 1st, to allow for submissions about and during our virtual/remote Pride Week. Please email laramie.pridefest@gmail.com with the subject line “zine” to submit. Refer to our Call for Zine Submissions for additional details.
