Additional Information

The public is invited to join the League of Women Voters (LWV) of Laramie for a free education program, ,“100 Years of Empowering Voters: Considering Alternative Voting Methods to Enhance Democracy”. The League will explain why voting methods matter, offer an explanation of several different alternative voting methods, and provide a chance for people to try them out. This program is being offered as we head into the 2020 election year, and observe the 100 year anniversary of the founding of the League of Women Voters of the United States. Carrie Chapman Catt, a suffragette and national League organizer, visited Wyoming 100 years ago to assist Wyoming citizens in establishing the League of Women Voters of Wyoming. LWV Laramie member and UW Graduate Student, Matthew Link will be the lead presenter and facilitator. Additionally, Jackie Gonzalez, Albany County Clerk, and Chris Rothfuss, Wyoming State Senate District 9, will be on hand to provide follow-up to Link’s presentation. They will have information on Wyoming legislative mandates pertaining to voting methods, and what actions would need to be taken to make changes to legislative mandates in regards to voting methods. This program is free and open to the public, and co-hosted by the Albany County Public Library. For more information email laramie@wyominglwv.org.
