Wyoming troopers were able to take a drunk driver off the road Sunday morning thanks to a citizen who called it in.

Sgt. Jeremy Beck says the commercial driver was "five times the legal limit" when troopers stopped him around 10:30 a.m. on Interstate 80 west of Cheyenne.

"Drivers are not allowed to have any detectable amount of alcohol in their system if they're driving a commercial vehicle and can be placed out of service, but this was enough of an amount that he was still placed under arrest," said Beck.

Beck couldn't get into all the details of the incident due to the fact that it's still under investigation, but he says "things could have ended tragically" had it not been called in.

"The REDDI (Report Every Drunk Driver Immediately) reports are a very crucial asset for law enforcement in making sure that we get impaired drivers off the roadway," said Beck.

"If you see an impaired driver on the roadway, notify law enforcement, call 911 or call our dispatch at 1-800-442-9090 and report the driver," he added.
